Rain, Snow, and Thunderstorms to Southern California

By Humberto Reyes-Reid

On March 7, 2016 Southern California was given a powerful storm. The storm brought rain, snow, and thunderstorms which even caused some flash floods in certain parts of the areas.
The storm brewed up winds which could reach speeds at up to “70 mph and could produce hail”( Kurzweil).
“Snow was falling from heights of about 6,000 feet, with light snow falling as low as 4,000 feet”( Kurzweil). Sources say that residents were complaining that the snow had caused "white out" like conditions on roadways which prevented them from going anywhere.
Although this storm was incredibly dangerous, it did bring needed rain to California and was not as extreme in further areas of the region.
